Why Sophie for Norcross

Thanks for stopping by! It’s great to meet you. I am Sophie Gibson, and I am running for Norcross City Council because I truly believe I can make a difference in the community I love and the community I call home. Gwinnett County is where I first laid Georgia roots almost 30 years ago and today, I have come back home and now call the beautiful city of Norcross my forever home. After raising three children, growing a small business since 2001, I am home and an advocate for Norcross and community change. As a small business owner and leader, I want to retain what makes our city special, while advancing in issues that mean the most to Norcross, including our public safety, maintaining our small-town charm and historic character, economic development to attract businesses and jobs and making choices that make our community better.

Sophie’s Vision for
Norcross

Public Safety
All Norcross residents deserve to feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods.   Norcross has a great Police Department. I will support an annual review ensuring that we have the infrastructure and personnel needed to keep us all safe and crime at it’s lowest.
Maintaining Our Small-Town Charm and Historic Character
This is one of the reasons I moved to Norcross. Sustainability of our Historic structures, Parks and Natural Resources and Tree Canopy is important. Our small-town charm is an asset and one that other size cities have tried to emulate. We must give special attention to our downtown, our trees and our parks, after all they add “character” to Norcross and is a huge compliment to our city.
Small Business & Economic Development
Means building the Norcross economy of the future, from physical and technological infrastructure, to attracting businesses and jobs so that residents of Norcross can Live, Work, Thrive and Live their best lives.
Diversity & Inclusion
As a business owner – diversity means diversity of thought that goes beyond being skin deep – What makes Norcross exceptional are the cultures that hold together one of the most diverse cities in America. Our destinies are shared; and our beloved city only works when we work together for the betterment of future generations.
Neighborhood Advocate & Community Engagement
As a communications leader, I believe in ongoing and continued community engagement at all levels. Representing my community means: Listening, more direct and frequent engagement, operating ethically, efficiently, and with transparency.
Enhance Quality of Life for All of Norcross
As an immigrant I know what it is to raise your family on a dream and to work hard to help change the quality of life for my family and generations to come. My objective is to help all residents of Norcross fulfill their dreams in enhancing the quality of their lives in Norcross.

Community Support

"The Atlanta Korean American Center, located in the City of Norcross, supports the Sophie Gibson for Norcross City Council campaign. On May 8th, Sophie helped serve 1,000 boxes of food in the City of Norcross with the Korean Association. We are excited to support a pro-Asian Councilwoman. Knowing her daughter is both Asian and African American, we are proud to have an advocate by our side. "
